Support our work as a research consultant or associate
*Update, 1 October 2026 – we have received an extremely high number of applications for associate & consultant positions. We are only a small team and so will be pausing applications to process those we have already received.
If you’ve already sent your details, please be assured that we will be in touch. If you would still be interested in working with Revolving Doors but haven’t yet reached out, why not take a look at our Involvement Manager/Associate vacancy?*
We are looking for researchers to join our pool of associates and consultants.
With a small staff team with a big appetite for change, we’re often on the lookout for people we can come to when we need support to deliver research projects or specific tasks – for example, evidence reviews, fieldwork and data analysis.
We want to collaborate with people who can help us ensure that our research and evaluation work continues to be robust and participatory, whilst providing a high-quality evidence base to drive solutions for those caught in cycles of crisis and crime. We are interested in hearing from academics, peer researchers, and research consultants, and particularly individuals with lived experience of the criminal justice system.
If you have a passion for research with impact, and are looking to work with a nationally renowned, evidence-driven, impact-led charity, we want to hear from you.
Revolving Doors’ track record
By joining us as an associate or consultant, you will be partnering with an optimistic, insightful and bold organisation with a track record of high-impact, high-quality research and evaluation delivery, including for the Ministry of Justice, His Majesty’s Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS), His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) and the Youth Justice Board.
We work across a range of research, analysis and evaluation methodologies, notably peer and participatory research, and have rapid access to people with recent and relevant lived experience of the criminal justice system.
Our evidence and insight has shaped national policy, major reform programmes and operational delivery, and we bring a unique combination of skills and expertise.
How do associates fit into the team?
Working with our staff team and members, associates have supported us to design and deliver research, including projects exploring reasons behind non-engagement of women on criminal justice pathways and investigating why people using illicit opiates do or do not enter different forms of treatment.
They have also worked with us on support and evaluations of Ministry of Justice and HMPPS interventions, and led on survey and topic guide design, recruitment, interviews and focus groups as well as analysis and report writing.
Helping to collate high-quality evidence that has informed local and national government commissioning, Revolving Doors research associates have also supported peer researchers to develop their skills and confidence and enabled us to ensure that a range of seldom-heard voices are included in our work.
