Today The Guardian published the shortlist for the 2016 Guardian Charity Awards and we are thrilled to have been shortlisted. This follows our recent shortlisting to the last 8 for the Social Enterprise Awards and our fingers are crossed for the announcements of both in the coming month. We know both received over 700 nominations and so we are delighted that the success of both sides of Revolving Doors – the charity and its supporting social enterprise – have been recognised.
A demonstration of the connection between the two sides of Revolving Doors is the work that we have just been commissioned to undertake by a leading youth homelessness charity. Evaluating their new model of working over the next 4 years will bring new learning into Revolving Doors and, we hope, allow us to see some ground-breaking work up close. We’ll look forward to sharing more news with you in future editions.
It will also support our growth – our income this year is already more than 35% up on 2014/5 – and I am delighted to say we are currently expanding our team. The three new posts (an Engagement Manager/Worker, a Policy Intern and a PA/Public Affairs support role), as well as the recruitment of a researcher, will ensure we can bring the voice of Lived Experience into hugely important policy debates about Transforming Justice, Prison Reform and Transforming Rehabilitation next year. All three have profound implications for the lives of people facing multiple problems and in the criminal justice system.
Finally, as we expand the team, Vicki is expanding her family and will leave us on maternity leave next month – we wish her, and her family, a wonderful few months before her return next summer.
So exciting times all round for the team at Revolving Doors.
