Leading criminal justice and health charities are calling on the government to strengthen the law so that anyone being considered for a prison sentence must have a relevant up to date pre-sentence report before a court can imprison them. The call forms part of a new report entitled In Ten Years Time being launched at a major health and justice conference mark the 10th anniversary of Lord Bradley’s report on improving outcomes for people with mental ill-health and learning disabilities in the criminal justice system. The report, co-authored by Revolving Doors Agency and Centre for Mental Health, argues that far too many people are still being sent to prison despite significant vulnerabilities.

Today Revolving Doors Agency publishes a new peer research looking into repeat victimisation among people who moved from the streets into supported accommodation in London. The research was supported by Trust for London.

The new capability framework and e-learning resource have been co-created with specialist clinicians, academics, and people with lived experience in partnership with Revolving Doors Agency, Clinks, Public Health England, Coventry University E-Learning and University of Huddersfield, to support the implementation of PHE’s guide “Better Care for people with mental health and co-occurring Alcohol and/or Drug conditions”.

Revolving Doors Agency wishes to receive proposals for papers which will form an edited collection of essays on the subject of ‘the Interconnectedness of Poverty, Trauma and Multiple Disadvantage’. The aim of this essay collection is to bring together the evidence base and provide a thoughtful and provocative analysis of its impact – or equally lack of impact – on research and policy, including an assessment of what gaps remain in the evidence base.

The new podcast produced by Revolving Doors Agency brings together academics, practitioners and people with lived experience. The podcast highlights the prevalence and impact of loss and bereavement among people in the criminal justice system, as well as opportunities and challenges professionals face in supporting them. Our new report based on a recent survey of our London forum members estimates that Londoners who are caught in the revolving door of crisis and crime were unable to access any legal support for as many as 37,500 legal problems since the introduction legal aid cuts.
